Biker crashes into police jeep, dies
BENGALURU: A 61-year-old biker was killed on the spot while the pillion rider escaped with injuries after their speeding bike crashed into a police jeep at Sumanahalli flyover on Outer Ring Road near Kamakshipalya on Friday.
The deceased was Bijaykumar Kandia, a resident of Hebbal while the injured is his brother in-law Ashiskumar (36). Both are plumbing contractors in the city.
Police said the incident occurred around 10.30 am when police inspector Sadashivaiah along with
his driver Lokesh was heading towards CK Achchukattu police station for work.
Meanwhile, Bijaykumar and Ashiskumar were on their way to Ullala Upanagar for work on a bike. Bijaykumar crashed into the speeding police jeep while trying to overtake it and fell on the road.
As they were not wearing helmets, both sustained severe head injuries. Bijaykumar was killed on the spot while Ashiskumar is recovering in a private hospital. Kamakshipalya Traffic police are investigating the case.
