BN- Shotgun courier gets three years in prison - Winnipeg Free Press: "go-between for a shady deal between a former Manitoba RCMP officer and a high-ranking gang member working undercover.
And his decision to courier a sawed-off shotgun has now landed him behind bars.
Howard Ironstand was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to transferring a firearm for his role in a major drug and weapons network infiltrated by police. Ironstand was one of 35 people arrested last December through Project DIVIDE, a year-long undercover sting operation in which police used a trusted gang associate to act as a secret agent.
Ironstand was recruited to deliver the gun by Wayne Shuttleworth, a one-time Mountie who gave up the badge to become a Hells Angels associate. Police watched as he met with the agent, Michael Satsatin, and traded the gun for $500 outside of a downtown residence.
Shuttleworth pleaded guilty earlier this year to weapons trafficking for arranging the deal and is now serving a four-year sentence. Shuttleworth turned to the criminal world after being brought in by a friend, where he quickly rose up the ranks of the Zig Zag Crew, which is the so-called puppet club of the Hells Angels."
