Ross Brand's murder by John Bedson 'ridiculous' says Judge Curtain
Ross Brand's murder by John Bedson 'ridiculous' says Judge Curtain | Herald Sun: "Justice Elizabeth Curtain told John Bedson that he shot dead Ross Brand out of the need to retaliate for a fight at the Geelong Cup in which neither he nor his victim was involved.
Mr Brand, 51, described as a Bandidos enforcer, died when Bedson fired a hail of bullets at the rival gang's Geelong headquarters in Breakwater from the rear of a ute.
Prosecutor Chris Ryan SC told the Supreme Court today there was a simmering ongoing hatred between the Bandidos and Rebels.
The shooting followed a minor dust-up at the races in October 2008 between men associated with the two bikie gangs.
Justice Curtain said Bedson was a member of the Rebels and an associated group, Death Before Dishonour, and was bound by the rules of those organisations."
