19 arrested in Buckingham drug raids
Police have arrested 19 people in connection with a drug trafficking ring in the Buckingham sector of Gatineau, just north of Cumberland, after an early-morning raid Thursday.
Searches were conducted in 10 residences on Buckingham Avenue, John F. Kennedy Road and Maple Road, among others in the neighbourhood. Police seized eight vehicles, cash, crack, cocaine, marijuana, and other illicit substances. They also dismantled a grow-op.
The 19 people arrested — 16 men and three women — face charges of drug trafficking, conspiracy to traffic drugs, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of drugs. They were to appear in court Thursday.
The operation was conducted by the Gatineau police with the collaboration of the MRC des Collines police, the street gang and biker gang units, and Sûreté du Québec.
The investigation will continue, and police expect additional arrests.
