Wheels of Soul vice president expected to seek bail
James "Animal" Smith is due in court this afternoon after he and other members of the Wheels of Soul motorcycle gang were indicted earlier this week.
Authorities raided the gang's "mother chapel" Tuesday in West Philadelphia, but the Wheels of Soul members span seven states, and have been indicted on murder, kidnapping and other charges.
The Associated Press reports Smith is expected to seek bail, since the 64-year-old has no prior convictions, but federal prosecutors may seek to extradite Smith to St. Louis, where the indictment was unsealed.
