"confirmed patch member" of the Amigos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, charged after drawing gun during fight
Robert McElhinney has been charged with felony assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon (felony), and misdemeanor assault following a fight on Sunday evening on the east side of Great Falls.
Court documents state that McElhinney was arguing with his neighbor over a broken sprinkler.
The argument turned violent when McElhinney allegedly punched the neighbor in the face several times.
The other person then reportedly pulled a knife, at which point, the court document states, McElhinney pulled out a hand gun from his back pocket.
McElhinney admitted to police that he is a "confirmed patch member" of the Amigos Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, and at the time of the altercation, he was wearing a gang club vest and made reference to being in a motorcycle gang.
Authorities discovered that the gun was not loaded at the time of the incident.
The man who was assaulted told police that he had noticed the gang apparel and was in fear of gang retaliation.
