Speeding Motorcycle Slams Into Car; Helmet Saves LIfe
BN - A high speed motorcycle crash has a man fighting for his life in the hospital.
Police believe the driver's helmet likely saved his life. It happened on Stanley Avenue on the North East side of the city. Police say the motorcycle crashed into a car that was turning left onto State Route 4.
"The subjects riding the motorcycle were in such serious condition," says Sergeant Clarence West of Dayton Police.
The motorcycle passenger, a woman in her early 20's, is now in stable condition at Miami Valley Hospital. The male diver is in critical with serious head injuries. "The drivers helmet had a lot of damage to it," says West. "So, if the damage to it was on his head, he probably wouldn't have even been removed from the scene."
The driver of the car was left without any injuries. At this point, police say they do not think alcohol is involved, only speeding.
