Vagos patched over to Outlaws: Police
The Vagos have patched over to the Outlaws and spent Saturday celebrating their new colours in what is known as a patch-over party.
Some city police officers spent most of the evening observing the clubhouse at 235 Perry St. formerly home to the Vagos, Insp. Larry Charmley said. The event included members of various Outlaws chapters and included former Vagos members.
"It does appear it was a patch-over party," he said.
There's no new banners up yet, but the Vagos sign that was once posted over a locked chain-link fence bearing the club's insignia of a demon on wheels and the message "Vagos MC: Enter With Respect" was recently taken down.
The building is owned by Bob Pammett.
"He has obviously switched over to the Outlaws as well," Charmley said.
Police do not yet have any information whether or not the Vagos have set up elsewhere in the city or plan to, the inspector said, noting investigators are also unsure of how many members patched over to the Outlaws.
Asked what it means and if the community should be concerned, Charmley said history tells us the kind of business motorcycle gangs have been involved in.
"We believe it's a criminal organization," he said. "We'd rather they not be in our community at all."
Police will continue to monitor the clubhouse and "always be concerned," Charmley said, noting how the Outlaws, Vagos, Hells Angels and Satan's Choice have all been in the city before.
The police service welcomes any information on any suspicious activity they see in the area "to help us with the community," he said.
