BIKER NEWS: Bandidos in Rapid City for its national run
BN- The Bandidos Motorcycle Club rolls into Rapid City for its national run, according to a release from the Rapid City Police Department. The warning from the RCPD and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is that there will be an “influx” of Bandidos in the Black Hills area Thursday through the Labor Day weekend.
The annual meeting is slated to take place at the Bandido clubhouse along Creek Drive on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6.
“The RCPD, along with other law enforcement agencies, has been in contact with Bandido leadership to ensure this meeting is accomplished in a safe and law abiding manner,” said Chief of Police Karl Jegeris.
“While there are no indicators to suggest plans for significant events or confrontations during the meeting, the area law enforcement plans to ensure public safety for the duration of the event,” added Sheriff Kevin Thom.
The Bandidos and several other clubs were involved in the infamous shootout May 17 in Waco, Texas.
Nine bikers were killed and 18 injured. It is unknown how many were killed by bikers or police who had gathered nearby to monitor a meeting of clubs.
Police arrested 177 people and confiscated hundreds of weapons after the shooting.
That confrontation appeared to be a turf war between the Bandidos and another club called the Cossacks.
