BIKER NEWS: Bikers and toys for a good cause
BN- Around 2,000 bikers, including Santa Claus, are meeting at Capilano Mall Sunday to help 630 CHED Santas Anonymous kick-off its annual toy-drive.
Starting at 11 a.m., they’ll rumble south down 50th Street, west across Whitemud Drive, north up 149th Street, and then back down through Glenora to Hawrelak Park.
Santas Executive Director Lana Nordlund says you’re welcome to bring an unwrapped toy or monetary donation and join in the fun.
“It is such a fun day and it’s absolutely amazing to see people of all ages,” remarked Nordlund. “And if you don’t have a motorbike, that’s okay, you can come to either location and ogle at all of the motorbikes or partake in the entertainment and everything else.”
Nordlund says besides the entertainment, there will be 50/50 draws and door prizes for everyone to enjoy at Hawrelak Park, adding the volunteers are the ones who make days like this possible.
“We have some of the volunteers that have been with the committee for so long, and some of them volunteer either at Hawrelak or at Capilano or they volunteer along the route, but they’ve never been to any of the other locations because that’s their volunteer role. But they get to see their little corner of it and understand the magnitude of it.”
