BIKER NEWS: Bikers gear up for annual ‘Ride to Gettysburg’

BN- Motorcycle riders are getting ready for a trip through Central Pennsylvania this weekend. It's part of the 15th Annual "Ride to Gettysburg" which is hosted by A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania.

Riders will travel from Harrisburg to Gettysburg to raise money to help restore the Historic Daniel Lady Farm. The farm is the northern most Confederate site that has been saved and is in the restoration process. The farm served as a field hospital and protected the left flank of the Confederate line.

Funds will also go to the Pennsylvania Monuments Fund which State Representative Harry Readshaw created.

"We've always had a great time," Readshaw said, "the weather is supposed to be great which is always attractive to those who ride any great distance to participate in the ride, we will hopefully have a great time and raise money for a very noble cause."

Registration opens Saturday at 11 a.m. on Commonwealth Avenue in Harrisburg. The group will leave for Gettysburg at 1 p.m.
