BIKER NEWS: Former Rebels bikie gang president AJ Graham takes fight to Federal Court

BN- A FORMER Rebels bikie gang president will have his appeal against deportation heard by a division of the Federal Court.
Tasmanian bikie AJ Graham, a New Zealand citizen, had his Australian visa cancelled in June.

The former Kingston Rebels chapter president is among several people, most recently Sydney identity Sam Ibrahim, to face deportation on character grounds.

Graham is appealing against the decision to cancel his visa on the basis it “was irrational, unreasonable or one that included a misunderstanding”, according to court documents obtained by the Mercury.

He is also seeking to be transferred from one of Australia’s toughest jails to Risdon Prison, to be “close to his home and support networks”.

Lawyers for Graham, 48, who has lived in Australia for 38 years, say his detention in NSW’s Goulburn Jail is unreasonable and a denial of justice.

Court documents reveal that Immigration Minister Peter Dutton believed cancelling Graham’s visa would ‘‘contribute to the national effort to disrupt, disable and dismantle the criminal activity of outlaw motorcycle gangs”.

Graham’s matters will be heard before a judge in the Administrative and Constitutional Law and Human Rights National Practice Area of the Federal Court.
