BIKER NEWS: Gentlemen bikers ride out from Rhyl in aid of prostate cancer charity

BN- More than 40 well dressed chaps took to the road for the event, which finished at Colwyn Bay, raising over £3,000 for charity

More than 40 riders supported the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride from Rhyl to Colwyn Bay yesterday to raise more than £3,000 for charity.

They joined more than 30,000 smartly-dressed chaps on classic machines in 400-plus venues in 79 countries around the world to raise awareness and help to fund a cure for prostate cancer.

The North Wales event was one of three in Wales, joining Cardiff and Pembrokeshire.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in 2012 in Sydney Australia, inspired by a photo of Mad Men’ star Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit.

The success of the event encouraged the founder to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause.

A spokesman for Rick Cawley, UK general manager for event sponsor Triumph, said: “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a fantastic event that brings together like-minded people in a fun environment.

"It’s great to see a global event showcasing the pleasurable aspects of biking and the camaraderie that comes with owning a motorcycle.

“In addition to being a fun and inclusive event, the DGR raises valuable funds to fight prostate cancer."
