BIKER NEWS: Late Night Legacy Motorcycle Club raises $1,032 for Hospice

 BN - The first annual Cork Memorial Motorcycle Run, a fundraiser that was organized by the Late Night Legacy Motorcycle Club, recently raised over $1,000 to benefit Hospice Chautauqua County. The event was held in memory of former club member Cork Karges, a hospice patient who passed away in January 2014.

Karges, a former auto mechanic for the police department of Rome, N.Y., was a Panama resident. "When you first met Cork Karges, most people tended to be intimidated by his presence," said Del Akins, co-organizer of the event. "He was larger than life but he was a very humble man who would do anything to help anyone, including giving the shirt off of his own back if you needed it. He was one of the founding members of LNL and spent a huge part of his life growing the club and its ideologies."

The rally was held at Murdock's Restaurant in Sherman and included a Poker Run, raffles, games, food and door prizes. Live music was provided by the band Kill Shot. "We could not have asked for a better day to hold the rally," said Akins. "The weather was beautiful, the ride smooth, the people enthusiastic. A great time was had by all that attended."

Organizers intend to hold the motorcycle run again next year, with the proceeds again being donated to Hospice Chautauqua County. "We are extremely grateful for the generosity of groups like the LNL Motorcycle Club," said Andy Dickson, HCC Director of Community Engagement. "When friends and families of our patients are so moved by the quality of care we provide that they fund raise on our behalf, we're moved beyond words."

Late Night Legacy MC is a motorcycle club based out of the southern part of Chautauqua County. They are a close-knit family of brothers who enjoy riding country roads and lending a helping hand to neighbors. Along with the Cork Memorial Poker Rally, they also hold an annual Bike Blessing each year in Clymer and a Children's Christmas fund. Their motto is "Brothers forever, forever family."
