BIKER NEWS: Man with Rebels bikie gang connections granted bail in Darwin's Supreme Court

BN- A Darwin man with connections to the Rebels bikie gang has been granted bail in the Supreme Court as he awaits a hearing on drug offences.

Shannon Althouse appeared in court today charged with several offences including possessing a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine as well as MDMA.

Police allege they found Althouse in possession of the drugs during a raid of a Darwin apartment late last month.

The Crown argued he had a history of breaching bail and should not be released from custody.

But Chief Justice Trevor Riley granted strict conditional bail, including a curfew, with the matter to return to court next month.

Justice Riley told Althouse that he would be closely monitored by police.

"There is no allowance for a breach of any kind — one breach and you're back inside," he said.

Althouse was at one point a member of the notorious Rebels bikie gang but claims to be no longer associated with the group.

"That's often said to me in court but how do I know that?" Justice Riley said.

The matter will reappear in Darwin Magistrates Court next month.
