BIKER NEWS: Trials ordered over Melbourne murder

BN- Two men charged with the bikie-linked murder of a Melbourne man have been committed to stand trial.

Michael Strike's body was found on the side of the road opposite Keilor Cemetery on May 25 last year and police say his blood has been found in the Bandidos' Brunswick clubhouse.

John Walker, 33, this week pleaded not guilty to Mr Strike's murder and was committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court.


Joseph Girgis, 41, on Thursday pleaded not guilty to being an accessory to murder and was also ordered for trial.

The committal hearing for co-accused Luke Paul Maybus, 28, who is also charged with murder, has been adjourned to October.

He was due to apply for bail on Thursday before his committal finished but prison authorities did not deliver him to court as requested.

All three men appeared while witnesses gave evidence in the Melbourne Magistrates Court this week.

Matthew Grech, a longtime on-off friend of Maybus, said he was asked to dump a stained couch and bleach-scented rubbish from the Bandidos clubhouse sometime in mid-2014.

He also alleged Maybus, while the pair had breakfast in Ballarat, told him a man turned up at the clubhouse "pissed" and screaming, and "they gave him a good hiding".

Another witness, Tym Livett, told police Girgis asked him to burn some Bandidos clothes in the early hours of May 25 last year after Girgis and Walker told him a man had been bashed.

Mr Livett admitted he was using ice at the time of the alleged conversation.

Walker and Girgis are due to front a directions hearing in the Supreme Court on Friday.
