BIKER NEWS: Biker suffers horrific burns in petrol station blunder after motorcycle overfills with fuel
BN- A motorcyclist has suffered horror burns at a petrol station after his vehicle's tank overflowed while the engine was still running.
The victim, 53, was set on fire during rush hour in Marietta, Georgia, at 8am. yesterday.
Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Lt Dan Dupree told the New York Daily News the man's most severe burns were in the lower half of his body.
Mr Dupree added: "He's very fortunate to survive it.
"Luckily, it didn't spread as much as it could have."
The man, who has not been named, was helped by passers by who alerted the authorities and helped him at the scene.
Owner of the petrol station Asif Nansi told WSBTV: "There was a guy at the other pump and he just came, taking off his jacket.
"He put it on top of him, so he saved him."
Following the incident the motorcyclist was rushed to hospital.
Fire investigators believe the blaze began because of the motor or exhaust below the his motorcycle's petrol tank.
