POLICE crash tackled a Bandidos bikie gang member after he allegedly reached for a loaded handgun during a dramatic raid yesterday.
BIKER NEWS -- Two men, both allegedly Bandidos members, have been charged after a protracted investigation targeting bikie gangs, which has so far netted more than $40,000 and drugs.
Detectives allege one man, 24, was in a group of men who kidnapped a 22-year-old man at gun point before taking him to a number of locations and allegedly assaulting and extorting money from him.
Police said the group forcibly entered a home on Abell Rd, Jimboomba, on June 27 when they kidnapped the man.
The man has been charged with kidnapping for ransom, extortion, armed robbery, burglary, deprivation of liberty, and trafficking dangerous drugs.
Detectives from Logan and anti-bikie squad Taskforce Maxima were involved in the raids at Pimpama and Upper Coomera addresses yesterday.
During the raids allegedly found 200g methamphetamines, cocaine, cannabis, a firearm and $40,000.
A 23-year-old Pimpama man, also alleged to be a member of the Bandidos, was charged with drugs and firearm offences.
Police will allege he reached for a .22-calibre handgun when officers raided his home yesterday as part of their investigation.
Both men will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
Detective Inspector Christopher Jory said the investigation was protracted and complex into the activities of members of bikie gangs.
“Police will allege these members were involved in drug trafficking, weapons offences, and serious criminal activity where a man was taken at gunpoint from his home, assaulted and extorted of money,” Detective Inspector Jory said.
Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of Taskforce Maxima said the investigation showed the “criminality of these gangs and their networks”.
“Accordingly, whilst they continue to offend we’ll be relentless in efforts against them. As seen by this matter the QPS uses all available resources to target their unlawful behaviour,” Detective Inspector Smith said.
