BIKER NEWS: Felling Bypass closed at Gateshead Stadium after biker is knocked over
BIKER NEWS -- The road was closed eastbound while the motorcyclist was treated by paramedics, although their injuries are not believed to be serious
Rush hour traffic on the Felling Bypass came to a halt after a car and motorbike crashed.
The biker came off their motorcycle and was knocked onto the road near to Gateshead Stadium at around 4.45pm on Tuesday.
Shocked drivers came to their aid and a passing ambulance was quickly diverted to the scene.
Eye-witness Stephanie Fox wrote on Twitter: “Just saw a terrible accident eastbound on Felling Bypass!”
The motorcyclist was being treated by paramedics on the scene, although their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The road was closed after the stadium as emergency services remained on site, but a diversion was put in place via Sunderland Road.
One lane was also closed heading east between Albany Road and Green Lane/Hepburn Gardens, with traffic backed up to the A167.
The Felling Bypass was fully reopened at around 6.30pm.
