BIKER NEWS: MONGOLS bikie jailed for three days for playing Angry Birds on his girlfriend's phone
BN -- A bikie has spent three days in custody after he was caught breaching his bail conditions by playing mobile video game Angry Birds on his girlfriend's phone.
Leslie Markham, 33, is a member of the Gold Coast chapter of the Mongols club. He was charged with drug trafficking in June this year, with one of his bail conditions being no mobile phone use.
But last week a plain clothed officer spotted Markham playing the popular game on his pregnant partner's phone at a doctors clinic in the Gold Coast suburb of Coomera in southeast Queensland, reports Gold Coast Bulletin.
He pleaded guilty to the breaching of his bail on Monday in Southport Magistrates Court, after being arrested and placed in custody for three days.
Solicitor Michael Gatenby said Markham's pregnant partner was feeling unwell and passed him the mobile phone when he was spotted.
He was due to to apply to vary the bail condition prohibiting him from using mobile phones but the application was delayed as his guarantor did not attend court on Wednesday.
Police arrested 10 Mongols bikies for trafficking methamphetamine during the culmination of a one-and-a-half-year investigation in June.
Over 280 officers swooped on 50 properties across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Gladstone and the Gold Coast with wide-spread arrests on the club, which originated in California in 1969.
