BIKER NEWS: Revving it up in Rawang

BN- THE Rawang Bikers Club (RBC) has been formed to encourage youths to give back to the community and avoid getting involved in unhealthy activities.

Its president Datuk Seri Bala Krishnan, said he had seen youths in Rawang and its surrounding areas without a platform to carry out social work.

“Our club will carry out social work such as visiting homes for the elderly, disabled or orphans in Rawang.

“We will also organise weekend rides throughout Malaysia, where we will stop at these homes to provide rations or other forms of aid.

“We will also hand out aid to temples that are in need,” he said after launching the club at the Banquet Hall in Sungai Dua, Rawang.

About 150 bikers from Kulim, Ipoh, Malacca, Penang, Seremban and Johor took part in the event.

The bikers then went on a 10km ride, with police escort, through Rawang town and Bandar Country Homes, revving the throttle to announce their arrival.

RBC secretary Premnath Sunderan said there were about 20 club members and hoped that more people would join.

“To become an RBC member, the person must have a valid motorcycle licence, above 18 years old and own a motorcycle with an engine capacity of 250cc or more.

“Anybody can join the club but preferably those living in Rawang or its surrounding areas,” he said.

The activities planned for the coming months are the Ride to Penang on Oct 24, followed by Charity Tanjung Malim ride (Nov 7), Krabi Ride (Nov 12) and Betong-Thailand ride (Nov 14).
