BIKER NEWS: Biker gunshot death riddle
BIKER NEWS -- A biker killed in what is thought to have been a road-rage incident in Johannesburg last year had two gunshot wounds - one possibly self-inflicted.
This was evidence yesterday of police Major Chris Mangena.
Meekahaefele Masooa, of Centurion, is on trial in the Johannesburg High Court, sitting in Randburg, charged with murdering motorcyclist Douglas Pearce, 39, in rush hour in Johannesburg on February 14 last year.
Masooa claimed he acted in self-defence after Pearce threatened him with a gun.
Mangena told the court Pearce had gunshot wounds to the upper left arm and lower back. The latter wound was "characteristic of close contact" and was probably self-inflicted. "The deceased could have accidentally discharged when trying to remove it from his backpack," he said.
