BIKER NEWS: Bikie boss ‘too rich’ to extort cash
BIKER NEWS -- The former State commander of the Comancheros bikie gang has said he had no reason to be part of an extortion plot against a Northbridge karaoke bar because he was a multimillionaire at the time.
Ronald Ernest Parr, who led the WA chapters of the gang from 2011, is accused of being at the head of a year-long plot to demand $10,000 a week from the new bar in Perth’s entertainment district. It had a Molotov cocktail thrown inside when the owners refused to pay.
Mr Parr, 49, told the District Court yesterday he never made demands or threatened the bar’s owners because he did not need to.
He also denied any knowledge of meetings where other Comancheros were handed thousands of dollars by undercover police posing as bar bosses.
Mr Parr outlined how he became the State commander of the Comancheros after former boss Steve Milenkovski was jailed on drugs charges.
Mr Parr said he was approached by senior members to take over.
