BIKER NEWS: Large gun fight outside erie motorcycle club

BIKER NEWS -- Erie Police Chief, Randy Bowers says they are sorting through the details and interviewing witnesses surrounding a large brawl between what they believe to be two rival motorcycle clubs: the Iron Wings on East 11th and East Avenue and Restless Souls on East 9th and East Avenue.

Saturday night the apparent gun fight broke out when police say members of the Restless Souls Club approached the Iron Wings and started the fight. Erie Police say both groups used guns, bats and clubs in the fight.

A 60-year-old man was clubbed in the head and treated at the scene.

Three members of Iron Wings admitted to police to firing in self defense.

They also claim to have permits to carry firearms.

After the fight police discovered 2 houses and 4 vehicles hit with bullet holes.

We spoke with several neighbors here in the area of East 11th and East Avenue and many said they were petrified to go on camera in fear of retribution.

Father Jerry Priscaro, Coordinator of the East Avenue/Hess Avenue Neighborhood Watch Group says the neighbors have a right to be concerned and he's not going to stand for this activity.

Father Priscaro fought for three years to prevent the Iron Wings from receiving a zoning variance to set up shop there.

Because this is a private club police say they cannot label it a nuisance.

It is technically a club and does not have a liquor license, therefore the police cannot work with the Liquor Control Board to shut down the club or label it a nuisance bar.
