BIKER NEWS: MURRIETA: Outlaw biker gang member pleads not guilty to terrorist threats

BIKER NEWS -- MURRIETA (CNS) – A reputed outlaw biker gang member accused of threatening to kill a Murrieta man and attempting to set his house on fire pleaded not guilty today to making terrorist threats and other felonies.

Beau Daniel Borutta, 37, of Murrieta, was arrested in August following a Murrieta police investigation.

Along with the threats allegation, Borutta is charged with attempted arson and stalking.

He appeared before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Mark Mandio at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. Mandio took Borutta’s plea, then referred the case to the Riverside Veterans Court after learning that the defendant had served in the military.

Borutta’s next court date is Dec. 11. If he’s determined to be eligible to have his case adjudicated in Riverside Veterans Court, he could qualify for substance abuse and other programs that put an emphasis on treatment over incarceration.

Borutta is free on $45,000 bail.

According to Murrieta police, on Aug. 27, the defendant went to an east Murrieta home and allegedly tried to set it aflame.

Investigators said the resident extinguished the fire and called 911, identifying Borutta as the alleged would-be arsonist.

The victim, whose identity was not released, reported that Borutta had made a number of “death threats” against him, though police declined to disclose the basis for the alleged threats.

According to police, the defendant is a member of a southwest county biker gang well known to law enforcement.

After collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses, police officers and members of the Riverside County Gang Task Force went to Borutta’s residence and arrested him without incident.

According to court records, he has a prior misdemeanor conviction for driving under the influence.
