BIKER NEWS: Texas man accused in motorcycle gang shooting captured in Bossier
BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -
BIKER NEWS -- A man wanted for his alleged role in a deadly shootout involving motorcycle gangs earlier this year in Texas was captured in Bossier City Wednesday.
Officers with the Bossier City Police Department, U.S. Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force and Louisiana State Police arrested 38-year-old Phillip Ray White, of Eddy, Texas, Wednesday evening.
White was wanted by the McLennan County Sheriff's Office in Waco, Texas on a warrant charging him with engaging in organized criminal activity specific to murder.
White, who police say is a member of the Cossack Motorcycle Club, was indicted by a Texas grand jury for his alleged role in the May 17 shootout at the Twin Peaks Restaurant in Waco that left 9 people dead and 20 wounded.
Those who were hurt had gunshot, stabbing and clubbing wounds, according to East Texas Medical Center EMS who serves the Waco area.
In October, disturbing video of the shootout was released to the media. The video shows the stunned reaction from people on camera as gunshots start exploding. Members of the Cossacks are sitting on the patio when the shots start ringing out. One biker can be seen running through the patio and firing at least one shot toward the parking lot. Dozens of bikers inside the building hid in the restroom of the restaurant.
Waco Police and prosecutors consistently defended the mass arrest of the 177 bikers that day, all charged with "organized criminal activity."
Authorities say White was found at the Diamond Jacks Casino in Bossier City and was taken into custody without incident.
He was booked into the Bossier City Jail and later transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility where he is awaiting extradition back to Texas.
