CBD killer appeals 'excessive' sentence
BN- CBD killer appeals 'excessive' sentence: "CBD killer Christopher Wayne Hudson is appealing his non-parole period, arguing the minimum term handed down by sentencing judge Paul Coghlan was 'manifestly excessive'.
Hudson's defence lawyer, Paul Holdenson, QC, told justices David Ashley, Robert Redlich and David Harper in Victoria's Court of Appeal this morning that Justice Coghlan erred when he handed down a 35-year non-parole period.
He shot dead lawyer and father-of-three, Brendan Keilar, 43, and critically injured Dutch backpacker Paul de Waard when both men went to the aid of Hudson's former girlfriend, Kaera Douglas, during the peak-hour morning shooting in Melbourne.
He also shot Douglas in the stomach before he ran off."
