A biker who helped murder a member of the infamous Hells Angels has had a price put on his head for betraying his comrades.
Karl Garside, 48, of the notorious rival Outlaws gang, fears for his life after he told other members of his gang he wants nothing more to do with them.
Garside, from Coventry, was one of seven involved in the gunning down of Gerry Tobin, 35, on the M40 in 2007.
He has been moved to another jail after he received death threats. Garside has been accused of breaking the secretive gang’s code of honour by turning his back on the Outlaws.
A jail source revealed: “The Outlaws live and die by a code of honour and it is almost unknown for any member to break away.
“Karl blames the peer pressure of being an Outlaw for putting him in the position of being an accessory to murder.
“He wants nothing more to do with the gang. There is a huge amount of anger at Karl. He is a marked man.”
Three of the killers from the South Warwickshire Outlaws chapter – Garside’s brother Dane, 42, Simon Turner, 41, and Sean Creighton, 46 – pulled alongside Mr Tobin on the M40 in a car at 90mph. The mechanic was shot once in the head.
Four others – including Karl, Malcolm Bull, 53, Dean Taylor, 47, and Ian Cameron, 46 – waited in cars as back-up killers.
Creighton admitted firing the fatal shot on the eve of the trial in 2008. All were convicted of murder at Birmingham Crown Court and given life sentences
