Police Show Off Motor Skills
Saturday marked the third annual River City Police Motor Skills Training Competition at Dillon Brothers Harley Davidson near North 180th and West Maple Road in Omaha.
Each officer had to maneuver through cones placed along the course. If they even touched one cone, a penalty was added to their time.
The overall goal was to promote training and skill development for when they really take to the streets.
"We use the same skills here we use out on the street," said Omaha Police Officer Mark Kiley. "We are constantly keeping our heads on a swivel, looking where we want to go, anticipating cars coming in our lane of travel, vehicles pulling into our lane of travel and being able to react within a seconds, notice to take the correct pervasive action to avoid an accident."
The best riders faced off for the top prize. The Nebraska Chapter 2 Blue Knights Motorcycle Club helped host the event.
