BIKER NEWS: Bandido associate on drug trafficking charges loses bail bid

BN- AN ASSOCIATE of the Bandidos motorcycle gang facing major drug trafficking charges after he was allegedly found in possession of 66.34 grams amphetamine at his Bell Post Hill home has been refused bail.

Numo Dizdarevic, 30, of Webber St, appeared in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with offences including trafficking amphetamine and methamphetamine, possessing liquid GHB, prescription drugs, proceeds of crime, ammunition and prohibited weapons.

Senior Constable Ben Morrison told a bail hearing that in June police started an investigation into allegations Mr Dizdarevic, an associate of the Bandidos motorcycle gang, was trafficking drugs.

Sen-Constable Morrison said that, on September 4, police executed a drugs search warrant on the Webber St address where Mr Dizdarevic was residing.

“During a search of the accused’s bedroom police found 66.34 grams amphetamine, 12.05 grams methamphetamine and 37.54 grams liquid GHB in a 35ml bottle,” he said.

“Also located were a small tackle box containing ammunition, an empty magazine, knuckleduster, double-bladed knife and $5820 cash.

“An A4 notebook diary contained his rent payments, cleaning duties at the Bandidos clubrooms and trips he had made to Thailand and interstate.

“There were also scales, unused syringes and a ticklist with names and amounts.”

Sen-Constable Morrison said all items were located on a shelf along with his personal belongings.

“Police believe the accused has been involved in drug trafficking,” he said.

“A court order was obtained for him to provide the code for a BlackBerry phone in his possession but the number he wrote down was incorrect.”

He said all drugs seized spot-tested positive.

George Henderson, for Mr Dizdarevic, said his client admitted possessing the drugs but denied trafficking.

“My client says 40 grams ‘amphetamine’ was in fact cutting agent and he wants the drugs analysed,” he said.

Mr Henderson said his client had been favourably assessed for the credit bail program and should be granted bail given the anticipated five to six month delay in forensic analysis of the drugs.

But Magistrate Ann McGarvie said the prosecution case was strong, the drugs located were of significant quantity and Mr Dizdarevic was unemployed.

She said Mr Dizdarevic’s links to the Bandidos as well as his failure to assist with the correct code for the BlackBerry phone were also factors in refusing bail.

Mr Dizdarevic was remanded in custody for a contested hearing on February 29, 2016.
