BIKER NEWS: Bikie gang member serving murder sentences caught with mobile phone in Goulburn Jail
BN- PRISON officers confiscated a mobile phone yesterday following a search of a maximum-security cell at Goulburn Correctional Centre.
The device was found following an increased security presence in the jails after the state’s prisons went smoke free.
Authorities said the cell where the phone was discovered was occupied by a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang.
The gang member is serving multiple sentences for murder, prison officials said.
“We take mobile phones in prisons very seriously,” Assistant Commissioner for Custodial Corrections Kevin Corcoran said, adding they remained a “real challenge” in prisons around the world.
