BIKER NEWS: Police officer allegedly had sexual relationship with former bikie Anthony Watts
BN-THE Crime and Corruption Commission is believed to have taken over the investigation of a junior police officer who allegedly had a sexual relationship with a former bikie but continues to work for the service.
Gold Coast Constable Mieke Marcelle Van Alphen, 27, is believed to have been romantically involved with ex-NRL bad boy Anthony Watts who lived nearby.
Watts – a former Finks and Mongols bikie gang member – has been in and out of jail for a string of offences, including affray and threatening violence.
It’s understood that Van Alphen’s computer and phone records have been looked into as part of the CCC’s investigation.

It can also be revealed that despite the gravity of the allegations Van Alphen is still working within the service after being transferred from Surfers Paradise to Southport Police Station.
Gold Coast Acting Chief Superintendent Michelle Stenner yesterday said Van Alphen had since been “stood down” but confirmed she was still at work.
“She is doing administrative duties at the moment,” she told the Bulletin.
“She’s been stood down for quite some time I think pending the outcome of the investigation. The CCC can get involved in any investigation that they want to.”
A spokesperson for Queensland Police said the matter had been investigated by Ethical Standards but would not comment on further investigations by the CCC. Police released a statement in April to confirm that a constable from the Surfers Paradise station had been stood down.

“The officer is the subject of a disciplinary investigation for misconduct in relation to the submission of false and misleading information, and being untruthful to an officer investigating a disciplinary matter,” the statement said at the time.
“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.”
A CCC spokeswoman yesterday said they “cannot confirm or deny” if it is investigating such a matter.
The latest scandal for the Gold Coast police comes after a series of disciplinary incidents that have rocked the service, including three incidents of officers accused of using excessive force.
An independent employee relations company – contracted by Queensland police – is taking statements from officers at the Surfers Paradise station as part of a review of cultural behavioural issues, bullying and homophobic behaviour.
