BIKER NEWS: Five killed on NZ roads over the weekend

BN- Police are continuing to investigate a fatal motorbike accident near Foxton.

A 59-year-old Palmerston North woman died in the crash between a car and a motorcycle about 2pm on Sunday afternoon - bringing the weekend's road toll to five.

The incident happened on State Highway 1, south of Foxton, and the serious crash unit is investigating.

Earlier on Sunday, a 23-year-old woman died when a car crashed into two parked cars in suburban Auckland.

Police said the woman had been a back seat passenger when the car, which was believed to be speeding, crashed on Farrelly Ave in Mt Roskill about 1.30am.

On Saturday, 17-year-old Trent Michael O'Connell when the car he was a passenger in crossed the centre line of Omoto Valley Rd, near Greymouth, and collided with a truck.

Two motorcyclists also died in separate crashes on Saturday, with the first killed in a smash in West Auckland about 1pm.

The motorbike was the only vehicle involved.

Just after 3pm, another motorcyclist died when they collided with another biker.

The pair were in a group of five riding together on Makomako Road, near Kawhia.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called but the most seriously injured rider died at the scene.
