BIKER NEWS: Police: Biker, 70, ejected off Harley
BN- CHESTER A 70-year-old man was taken to Morristown Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday morning after being ejected off his motorcycle when he was struck by another driver on Route 206, according to borough police.
Police were dispatched at 10:09 a.m. to the intersection of Route 206 and West Main Street for a report of a road accident involving a motorcycle.
According to the report, Joseph Rich, 68, was driving a Ford Taurus sedan where he was attempting to make a left turn from northbound Route 206 onto West Main Street. At the same time, Robert Jacobs, 70, of Hackettstown, was traveling south on 206 on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Rich's car struck Jacobs, ejecting him off his motorcycle.
Jacobs was transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Chester Volunteer First Aid Squad with non life-threatening injuries, according to the report. He was listed in good condition late Saturday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesperson..
Rich was issued "several" unspecified motor-vehicle summonses and released from the scene, according to police.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Department responded to assist with the accident investigation. The New Jersey State Police and Department of Transportation responded to assist with traffic. Chester Township and Morris County Park police also assisted with traffic control.
