BIKER NEWS: Raleigh man killed during confrontation biker convention
BN- The wife of a Raleigh man who was killed during a confrontation at a weekend biker convention in Wilson is sharing her side of the story.
Adia Wilkerson is trying to stay strong after she looked on while her husband lost his life.
“He was a wonderful man. He loved motorcycles,” said Wilkerson.
Wilkerson said that her husband had hundreds of miles on his bikes and maps of new places he planned to visit.
This past weekend, Kelly Wilkerson was at a biker convention. Adia said that she was at the scene when her husband got into an argument with another rider.
“I heard the shots. Four or five shots,” she said. “I ran in the direction of the shots and my soulmate was laying on the ground.”
Kelly Wilkerson was pronounced dead at the scene. Stephen Maddox Jr., 41, of Durham is charged with the murder.
Wilkerson said that Maddox and her husband had argued before.
“They were all over the road,” she said.
She said that, weeks earlier, her husband had safety concerns after a group motorcycle ride and Maddox took the concerns personally.
“The incident that happened on Saturday came from that night,” said Wilkerson.
She wants others to know that arguments or disagreements don’t have to have the same end result as Saturday’s altercation.
“Turn something quickly, from something so innocent to something violent,” she said.
