BIKER NEWS: Salvation Army, bikers host turkey giveaway
BIKER NEWS -- Thanksgiving is time to be with our loved ones and families will prepare that familiar Thanksgiving turkey. But for those families who can't afford to buy one, the Salvation Army stepped in to help.
"We've got sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, corn green beans, cranberry sauce of course no meals complete without cranberry sauce and we also added extra items they've got pie crust, they got pumpkin," said Stacey Warren, Director of the Bainbridge Salvation Army.
The list continues to go on. Every year the Salvation Army gives away canned goods. For many years a volunteer in Bainbridge, Clowers Goodwin, roasted the turkeys, but he passed away from cancer this year. The Honor Sentinels and the Remaining Few biker club stepped up to the plate and showed us what Thanksgiving is really all about.
"We started cooking yesterday at 3 in the morning, they wrapped them up put it them in a big smoker, they were up all night long smoking these turkeys just so when the people come and pick it up they got a nice hot turkey," said Dan West, Honor Sentinels Biker Club Member.
One of the family members says how the Thanksgiving meal helped her and her family.
"It helped me in an amazing way because for the last few years I've been going through a couple of things and this is a great thing at this time...so its been amazing for me," Shanita Johnson, a family member in need.
