BIKER NEWS: Owners' sale price for Waco Twin Peaks where 9 bikers died raises eyebrows

BN- The Twin Peaks restaurant building where motorcycle gangs and law enforcement engaged in a deadly shootout in May is up for sale.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports the 7,869-square-foot building with a a 1,800 square-foot patio is listed with a $4.2 million sale price and a leasing price of $350,000 a year, not including insurance and taxes.

The asking prices led to some raised eyebrows among restaurant owners and real estate experts interviewed by the newspaper.

"With the reputation that building has, I'm surprised anyone was brave enough to ask that much for it," Jay Hinojosa, owner of two Heitmiller's Steakhouse locations in Waco, told the Tribune-Herald. "I didn't even pay half that for a building of comparable size. I don't think they will ever get that, but it makes my investment really smart if they do. It means I got a steal on mine. But I don't think that figure is realistic."

McLennan County appraisal records show the property was valued at more than $3.1 million in 2015.

Nine people, including New Braunfels man Jesus Delgado Rodriguez, died in the May 17 shooting and more than 18 were wounded.
