BIKER NEWS: 9th biker in sealed Twin Peaks indictment arrested in Louisiana casino

BIKER NEWS -- State and federal authorities made an arrest at a Louisiana casino Wednesday night of the ninth biker who was named in a sealed indictment related to the May 17 Twin Peaks shootout.

A McLennan County grand jury indicted 106 bikers last month on first degree felony charges of engaging in organized criminal activity in relation to the shootout.

Nine of the indictments were sealed, because the bikers named had not been arrested. After Wednesday night’s arrest, all nine charged in sealed indictments have been taken into custody.

The name of the biker arrested Wednesday has not been released, but authorities identified him as a member of the Cossacks motorcycle group. He was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. at a casino in Bossier City, Louisiana.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said deputy U.S. Marshals and Louisiana state police took the biker into custody at a craps table.

“You might say this guy crapped out in Bossier City,” McNamara said.

He said the biker is from the Waco area but declined to identify him, because the indictment charging him has not been unsealed.

Others named in sealed indictments who have been taken into custody or turned themselves in include James Madison Caffey, 39, of Gilmer; Cory McAlister, 36, of Ore City; Christopher Carrizal Sr., 50, of Dallas; Jerry Edward Pierson, 49, of Dallas; Paul Russell Miller, 39, of Gholson; Ray Asbary Nelson, 42, of Waco; Jeffrey Veillon, 53, of Wylie; and Clifford Pearce, 52, of Waco.

A grand jury that met Wednesday did not take any action that resulted in no bills or indictments for the remaining 80 cases resulting from the 177 arrests made the day of the shootout.

McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna has said the remaining cases will be heard by a grand jury but has declined to elaborate.

Nine bikers were killed and 20 others were wounded in the gunbattle between rival biker groups and police during a May 17 noon-hour meeting of bikers at the former Waco restaurant.
